The Hood Internet has become one of my favorite mashup duos as of late. With what seems like a rather simple formula of taking up-and-coming hip-hop artists and blending them with semi well-known indie bands, this Chicago duo proves that this type of structured music takes systematic skill.
Unleashed to the masses on May 1, “Pesobedear” is a tricked-out mix of A$AP Rocky’s hit “Peso” and Purity Rings “Obedear.” This track is so fresh and completely unexpected that upon first listen, I wasn’t sure what to think. However, after a couple of taps on the replay button my reservations were nonexistent and I couldn’t get enough of that hard-hitting sound The Hood Internet pulls off so well.
The hard swagger that A$AP Rocky exudes on each of his tracks is still reigning high on “Pesobedear” with downtempo rhythms and heavy verbiage. With A$AP’s hard-hitting verses blended with Purity Ring’s bombtastic beats, this song is nothing short of a weirdly awesome concoction of musical magnificence that many fans of both artists will enjoy.
