Alex Clements

I Feel (Ft. Alex DeWahl)

Sounds like: Iron and Wine, My Morning Jacket, Bon Iver
When he's not hawking scones at Panera Bread patrons for a living, Alex Clements is a very busy boy. Constantly working on either his own solo acoustic sounds, the vocals for his chipper indie rock band Out Go The Lights, or in this case, adding an electronic flare to his soulful sound with friend and producer Alex DeWahl (who produces as Marble)."I Feel" is a light sampling of the lyricism that Alex exemplifies in every piece of work that he has a hand in. The song carries the weight of emotions, and the even heavier weight that comes with trying to express them. His voice wavers with a sense of vulnerability at the higher pitches, while stern and solid at other points when defending himself. The mild temper of this song can be directly contributed to Alex's cacophonous vocals that at first may be off-putting, but soon manage to endear you. His voice, being as jumpy and wiry as it is, allows the melody to resonate through and meld thoroughly with the hums and whirs that so delicately lull us off to a somber daze.
