Anthony Valadez is a staple of Los Angeles music. If you spend more than a few days there and have a pulse on anything relevant and musical, you’ll catch a glimpse of the man. Whether holding down a slot at Santa Monica’s famed KCRW terrestrial radio, DJing all over the city limits, or even teaching the you the ways of the steel wheels, Anthony is a man about town. Which is why it is amazing he has found time to craft and curate his debut album, coming out through Plug Research records.
Made during late nights after club gigs, via cross-Atlantic emails and many a jam session, Just Visiting plays just like an Anthony Valadez DJ set — it’s a little bit of everything. His single, “Under Water,” featuring San Francisco’s The Park and Mar from Full Crate and Mar, is a breezy, flirty joint, perfect for dusk on the streets of West L.A.
The version we are streaming here is Ant’s re-edit of his own tune (go figure), and adds a bit of haze to the original. Enjoy.
