Let us finders all thank French Express for that one-way ticket to amazing keepers. For a label who claims to be “protectors of the feel good,” they’re certainly holding up to their name. There, the best things are free.

The latest comes from Moon Boots, another droplet of disco house gold. In true Moon Boots style, “Love Strong” launches the ears into disco bliss. Doesn’t matter what side of the hemisphere you may find yourself on or what type of sky you’re standing under, this track will simulate beams of sunshine.

Here’s a release worth getting excited about! Sounding both like a deep house version of The Knife and if Tegan and Sara had made a GOOD dance album, Maya Jane Coles teams with Swedish wonderchild Karin Park for “Everything” — the first single off her forthcoming album, Comfort.

For those of you just tuning into Maya, she’s probably the raddest and the baddest chick in deep house. Her productions have consistently been spot-on and her mixes, as well as her live show, never miss a beat. With her latest album, not only did she produce and mix the whole thing, but she apparently designed the artwork as well. In the spirit of Destiny’s Child, “all the women who are independent, throw your hands up at me,” because you know it’s not easy being that awesome in a male-dominated industry.

The track carries lyrical sensitivity: ”It must be my heart you are after, it must be my lungs you are breathing from. We are not the winner or the losers, baby we are the fight” — yet there’s nothing timid about “Everything.” Rather, it’s about as decisive and determined as a 50-foot plunge below sea level. “Everything” wraps you in the cool dark of an emotion that inevitably requires a strong and assertive assent to the surface of feeling — it’s like, heart-core house ya’ll. Also, it comes with this nifty video.

Future Classic, the eclectic Sydney based label, introduces a new fresh-faced talent. Charles Murdoch, a name like some sort of fictional character out of your favorite detective novel, delivers proper amounts of mystery with his track “No Lungs.” It’s a chilled out, future garage sort of assembly of fuzzed-out synths, deep bass, uplifting melodies, and it’s free for download.

In his short career, Charles has been handpicked to support T.E.E.D, Nicolas Jaar, and Shlohmo, and he’ll be supporting Lapalux and Cashmere Cat at the Sydney Opera House for Vivid Live on May 25.

First I heard of the multi-talented Chicago producer The GTW, aka James King, was a 2010 release called Don’t Smoke The Cigarette. The album was an highly engaging combination of hip-hop, R&B, and electronic elements produced mostly by himself and a few friends, “Half-way Freaks” being one of the stand-out tracks. Those productions, paired with King’s distinctive voice and thought-provoking, sometimes playful, lyrics set The GTW aside as something special.

I was lucky enough to meet and work with James around 2011, and let me say, his presence is as large and as great as his looming stature. In other words, there’s something about King that kind of takes your breath away. Possibly it’s his boundless creativity, his keen style, or just how sure he is about his craft. We formed a bond based on mutual artistic appreciation and I’ve kept up with him since then.

Originally from Nigeria and growing up as a young transplant in Chicago seems to have built an amalgamation of styles now intrinsic to Kings approach, something that he likes to call, “Chigerian.” His latest endeavor is a rework of fellow Chicagoan Tink, ”When I’m Lit.” It’s highly successful in that it far surpasses the original, it demonstrates King’s rolling tribal beats, and hints at his R&B and Chicago house influences.

What's so good?

What’s interesting about Detroit Swindle is that even though they are not from Detroit, they’ve mastered the Detroit vibe better than some Detroiters. Which isn’t weird, because even though they have an outsider perspective, it’s almost like they’ve tapped right into the essence and brought it out with shinning colors.

This was much more apparent last week, when the Amsterdam duo rocked a small Metro Detroit club called Grasshopper Underground. The vibe was warm, the energy high, and the crowd appreciated them as much as I’m appreciating this latest Detroit Swindle remix.

“One Day” comes of the latest EP from Softwar, released via Modular People. Luscious house chords, soulful vocals and all the fuzzy nostalgia of seductively small clubs and sweet, sweaty nights can be streamed via SoundCloud and purchased via Beatport. Enjoy!

This afternoon I’ve been bombarded with amazing tracks that are all screaming to be at the forefront of our Shuffler attention. While all those tracks are cued up and waiting to wow your ears, this new remix from LO has won in most re-plays in an hour, I mean, for me that is – I’m in love with “Let Her Go.”

We’ll have to thank Passenger for the poignant lyrics, “Only know you’ve been high when you’re feeling low, only hate the road when you’ve been missing home, only know you lover her when you let her go, and you let her go.” But LO builds an amazing atmosphere that dances between modern indietronic, house, and bass influences. For me, that retro synth is the cake topper — it’s killin’ me. The full package is one monumental remix from the German producer.

Highlighting both established artists and a few fresh faces, Hernan Cattaneo‘s label, Sudbeat, offers up its first ever compilation.

Available via Beatport, it’s a well-rounded collection of warm tech house and melodic deep house, all with a journey-esque feel. On a whole, the vibes are fairly dark, true to techno’s roots, but with all of that deep introspective determination in one place things can start to feel a bit murky. It’s nice to be able to pull your head up once in a while, and “Merkabah” offers that breath of fresh air.

Once again, Eagles & Butterflies crafts a tune that is as hopeful as it is curious. “Merkabah” is progressive in that its future forward-thinking beat will have you pondering all you can accomplish in life, rather than the opposite. I find it to be the stand-out track on the compilation, but I urge you to be your own judge.

Applebottom’s remix of “When You Say” is epically clubby in a late 90s sort of way, and vaguely reminds me of Orgy’s 1995 version of “Blue Monday,” but all this is making me love it.

Forthcoming on Madhouse Records (the big brother of sorts to MadTech), “When You Say” is the original creation of Jay Ennes and Troy Denari. Their original version, a classic house stomper, is just as pleasantly 90s. Applebottom has thus created a perfect balance between the two; neoclassic sentiment retained, his version is the night to Ennes and Denari’s day.

Also well worth a listen is the dark disco remix from Steve Mill & Elias Tzikas. Never short of quality, “When You Say” is everything we would expect from the tastemaker label. Follow Madhouses’s SoundCloud to keep up-to-date on the release.

Lars Vamos and Andinger Art make up the duo known as Vamos Art. Based out of Germany, these guys have been holding it down for some time in their home town. But it seems that now they’re intent on sharing with the rest of the world what Stuttgart already knows.

Their edit of “Good Vibrations” brings the Beach Boys to a new level of sexy, stomping deep house vibes and is probably the best Beach Boys edit I’ve heard since the Pet Sounds released The Beach Boys vs. J Dilla.

What's so good?

You may recognize Sinead Harnett’s standout vocals from Disclosure’s massive hits, “What’s in Your Head” and “Boiling.” As one of London’s top talents, she’s been causing a wide-spread ripple effect. Recently featured in Rudimental’s track “Baby,” Harnett’s now armed with some solo material produced by Dirtybird resident Eats Everything, with the added stylings of Lukas Club.

“Got Me” is the first preview of what’s too come, and I’ve got a feeling this album is going to be big. Sinead’s vocals are powerful, deeply soulful, and seem to glide over the dirty bass house beat. As a matter of interest, listen how seamlessly this EE&L production merges with (one of my favorites) Isolee’s “Beau Mot Plage“- similar styles, no?

This is a first listen for Sineads new material which will be forthcoming via Black Butter Records, the label that brought us Kidnap Kid, Rudimental, Clean Bandit, Woz, and Gorgon City – a lot of hits in one place, huh?!

The boutique label Petfood first popped on my radar in January with this awesome Forrest remix. Though the track quickly became a staple, the label fell out of mind. Luckily PetFood popped up again today on my feed, dishing out some delicious deep house from a producer named Pete Oak.

Based out of Denmark, Oak was an early music appreciator. Like so many of us, his musical aspirations started in analog, but while dreams of becoming the next Jimi Hendricks swam around his young brain, the universe had other plans for him. Now Pete orbits around the digital world of electronics, but he’s managed to retain that warm organic sound. With an impressive catalog of soul, deep house and new disco, Oak’s keeping it sultry, sexy, and full of heart.

His latest contribution to dance floor ecstasy: an EP called The Science of Love and I’m already falling for it. While “Love Crime” might be the stand out track, “My Nights” and “The Cheater” are close seconds. “Two Worlds” is a bold and explorative track that tests the limits of underground pop, fuzzing it up with hip-hop, trip-hop, wavy dreams and introspective lyrics. Their music sounds like one big eternal transformation, but whatever it is they’re growing into, it does sound like Phantasmagoria’s getting more comfortable in their skin.

With nonstop gigs and a new album, DAYZE, due out summer 2013, the likable Detroit duo has been keeping busy. This year they’ve broke enough ground to land a spot on the Beatport stage during Movement– Detroit’s primo techno festival.

“Wake Up Call” is just a little tease of a snippet, but a massive tune nonetheless. In all its neoclassic glory, progressive synth sounds build with a classic house beat and make for an energized club hit.

First we heard from Elef, aka Eleftherios Kousakis, was this Detroit Swindle remix released via Dirt Crew. Now he’s back with “Wake Up Call,” forthcoming via Local Talk, the Swedish label that first tuned us in to HNNY.

Now, either my investigative skills are working poorly this afternoon or the elusive German producer has fallen off the digital grid. As far as personal profiles go, he hasn’t got a lot I can link you to, but if you’re on Beatport you can keep up on his latest releases there. Enjoy!

“Who?” lures you in at the outset with smooth classic house chords, winds up with some garage bass, and demands attention with lyrics like, “Who got the biggest ass in the house?”

London-based producer Jack Boean has made a definite crowd pleaser with this track. I can already see the smiles of every girl on the dance floor and the reciprocal nods of the dudes they’re droppin’ it for. I firmly believe there isn’t a soul in the world who wouldn’t feel the good vibrations after a little booty shakin’.

If my investigative skills are on point, Boean also works under the moniker Real, and as coincidence would have it, I blogged about another track of his earlier this month, “you + me,” without even being armed with this information. I guess it’s no coincidence that both tracks are equally as delicious, nor is it strange that I was equally geeked about “Who?” as I was with “you + me.”

Last week, I took some time to absorb the good vibes and good weather in the musical city of Nashville, TN. There, I met a few friends who introduced me to a few more friends, and before I knew it, I was surrounded by a stunning variety of musical brilliance — Nashville is just that kind of city.

One of those geniuses is a dude named Jim Oblon. Now, I don’t know much about him other than the fact that he makes other guitar wizards weak in the knees, he tours with Paul Simon, jams every Tuesday at a rad place called Foobar, and is generally a cool dude. A friend of mine turned me on to Jim’s latest collaboration. It’s a stray for Oblon’s typical blues style, but strikingly reminiscent to one of my favorite 90′s bands, The Breeders; thus, I highly approve.

Story is, he made friends with a vocalist (who is probably gorgeous), they jammed, and pure musical sex came out. That sounds really raunchy, but with a name like Porno Cave, what more could I assume?

Anyway, I hope they make a few more tunes, because “Hearts” is quickly becoming my latest obsession. So, relish in this 90s girl rock glory with me and snag the track via iTunes. Enjoy!

Dirtybird resident Eats Everything must have just updated his remix set, because it showed up top on my SoundCloud feed today. This gave me a chance to backtrack into some of his previous remixes I had forgotten about, namely this one from the White Stripes.

What I love most about “Hello Operator” is that it’s the best example I’ve heard, thus far, that bridges two of my favorite musical styles — garage country blues rock and jackin’ booty house. The energy of these two styles comes from very much the same place: libido charged music, sex appeal woven into every measure. Maybe that’s why Eats Everything’s edit works so well.

“Hello Operator” is also a good reminder of the dude that everyone loves to hate — Jack White. Sure, he might have always been too big for his britches and a little too agro for a great portion of the musical community, but his music is phenomenal, so you know, he’s allowed to be a bit much. Don’t you think?

Scope out more of what Eats Everything has to offer in his remix set. The selection will surely help expand your musical mind and make your day a lot more eclectic.

Fifteen-year-old prodigy Kyogi, aka Sean Harper, appeared on the Shuffle only once before for a tune called “You Were” — a refreshing collaboration with another up-an-coming producer, Honest.

Kyogi is back, this time with his own knock-out remix of DE$iGNATED’s debut track “Valentine.” Keeping it fresh and funky, Kyogi brightens up the otherwise dingy fuzzhop sound of the original, turning up the dance floor and turning heads, namely some BBC radio 1 noggins.

What's so good?

I’m going through an “I don’t love anything phase,” which usually means I’m about to shift musical gears; this also usually means musical gears are shifting, via collective conscious and the like.

I’ve been intrigued by a slight resurgence of trance for some time, and while I wouldn’t exactly call Rone (nor this Stamusic. remix) trance, I would maybe call it nu trance.

Both artists demonstrate a progressive, melodic approach, relying on a snowball effect of fuzzy synths and a nice choice of chord changes to carry the song. It’s slightly uneventful, and I don’t love it, but do I like it. There’s a nice vibe and a refreshing break weaving in and out of the melody — kind of like hypnosis.

I would suggest also scoping out the original, as it comes with a pretty nifty video. Enjoy!

What's so good?

There seems to be a lot of misinformation about Valentina’s debut EP Wolves. What makes it more confusing is that Joe Goddard’s version of “Gabriel” was released nearly two years ago, yet we’re just now getting a first listen of the original composition.

Valentina’s progressive ballad, “Wolves,” previewed a few months ago and took me by surprise with its elegant and expansive simplicity. Her voice, like the assortment of the EP’s producers (Kwes, Blue May, Sam Beste, Ben Esser and David E. Sugar) is unique, adding to the “bold and earthy” feel of the EP.

The newest preview, entitled “Ladders,” while unfair to compare, feels superbly Nite Jewel-esque to me. Valentina seems to be exploring the structure of sound slowly, softly and with a lyrical depth that sinks straight to the soul.

The EP isn’t available for download until April 29, but you can stream the full thing via iTunes. Keep up to date on the release via Greco-Roman. Enjoy!

What's so good?

UK vocalist Jade Parker recently shared her latest EP, Together, via Bandcamp – a strong, two track addition to her budding career.

Soulful and smooth, her vocals are the perfect compliment to Joe Synkro’s stellar production, and while it’s hard to get a read on her full range or the scope of what she’s capable of, I’d say this is a pretty good start.

It’s curious to me that she’s branding herself a standalone artist with these types of vocal collaborations. Usually such sparse use of vocal would warrant a “feature” from the producer (or nothing at all!) rather than the other way around, but hey, I dig it and the approach has been dually noted.

She’s demonstrated that’s she’s capable of fleshing out a tune with her previous release, “Tonight,” but I’m left wondering just what sort of persona she’s going for. At any rate, “Maintain” is a great track so support Parker via Bandcamp or Facebook.

xxxy drops an exclusive track today via Annie Mac’s Free Music Monday’s, and yup, you guessed it — it’s free for download.

While that’s all pretty exciting, “Taking Me Higher” is a little less enthusiastic. The lyrics ring out “taking me higher,” but the general tone of the track spirals down a deep tech-house rabbit hole giving the impression that “higher” has never been farther away.

Nevertheless, “Taking Me Higher” is a solid track; prepped and ready for late night dance floors where positivity sometimes needs to be heavy to be heard. If you’re looking for a serious perspective, a musical intervention, this is just the track to fit those needs. Enjoy!

What's so good?

I love Disclosure about as much as I love Detroit, and the Lawrence brother’s brought it proper — there were garage tunes, there were house tunes… plenty of music worth of 2-stepping, shoulder bouncing and booty shaking to.

For as young as they are (18 and 21 respectively) and for such a new career, Disclosure stayed true to their roots, or at least the original ideology behind why they started making music. But they’re also chart toppers now, with mainstream hits like “White Noise” and “Latch.” And this is weird, and then it’s not; because aren’t they a garage duo? But wait, there’s a full on pop vocal, is this pop? Does it matter? I mean, I loved those tracks, too. In fact, I’m obsessed with “Latch” and its endlessly sexy video, but then why did I feel so weird hearing it live?

In an interview with Magnetic Mag, Guy noted:

“Obviously we are massive fans of chart music, that’s clear. But it is weird… there has definitely been some crossover of people who would never ever listen to house music or garage but are enjoying ‘Latch.’”

Yeah, I’m with you.

Maybe I’m being too critical, I know that Disclosure can’t bring out the full army at every show. When “White Noise” fell flat because AlunaGeorge wasn’t there bringing it home, that wasn’t Disclosure’s fault. But without Sam Smith commanding the stage for “Latch” or Jessie Ware there repping the “Running” remix, I got confused as to what I was watching. What began as garage house and UK bass set suddenly became a pop show with no focal point.

Maybe I’m jaded, maybe I’ve got the wrong idea, maybe I’m getting too old for this, but the vibe definitely changed with Disclosure’s more pop-driven tracks, and where I couldn’t groove and boogie to garage or house, I stood there like a spoiled child angry that I couldn’t dance, or maybe I just didn’t want to.

Maybe I was just ornery that my hair was still damp and smelled of the red bull vodka some prick spilled on my head, or that the air lingered with the dense smell of that dude in front of me who couldn’t keep the stimulants from his bowels. Possibly I would have had a completely stellar time if it wasn’t for that drunk 20-something asshole who tried to unbutton my shirt and make out with me. But I knew, when the bouncer finally threw him out, that that wasn’t Disclosure’s fault, either. These things happen, as do conflicting touring schedules and limited musical means.

Still, looking over my shoulder at all the 18-year-olds falling in love for the first time over “Latch” and noticing that the only people in the crowd my age were fellow bloggers kind of made me feel both like those teens didn’t belong, but that maybe I didn’t either. Caught between a mad respect for what Disclosure has accomplished and the reality of who they’re currently appealing to, I decided, at least for me, maybe it was best to idolize them from afar.

Howard and Guy were up there just doing what they know, and the majority of the crowd were crazy about it. Kudos were mentally given when Guy (or was it Howard?) belted out some killer, and I mean killer, vocals. (Who knew the boy could sing?! Was I supposed to know that?) I appreciated that they incorporated live instruments for all the people who hear electronic music and go, “but wait, so like, what is happening right now?”

Music is made, music is played, and listening is a pleasure be it house, garage, disco or pop. Even though I left a little confused as to what I had just seen or how I was supposed to feel, I also got the impression the Lawrence brothers may be in a similar state of transition. Comforted with the knowledge that all would be set right as soon as I got home and pressed play, I forgave the Detroit audience for being annoying, and I gave Disclosure the benefit of the doubt. They’re still rad in my book, and though I might avoid the next performance without a hazmat suit, I’m still eager to hear more from the brothers in the future.
