Last time we caught up with Mr. Fogg was when we featured a deep, captivating remix of his last “A Little Letting Go” single by Maribou State. Fast-forward a few months, and the British electronic talent is back with a new single that we’re premiering right here on Indie Shuffle

“Tightrope” is out on October 1st and sees Mr Fogg as his dizzying best. Revealing something need with each spin, it’s a hypnotic, over-sized piece of intelligent pop that’s as intricate as it is evocative.

Described by Fogg as “a song about risks and responsibility,” this new single version distills one of the most ambitious moments from sophomore album Eleven into three and a half minutes of densely-packed flugelhorns, seething bass lines and wrong-footing rhythms.

California natives Trails and Ways are what some would label summer pop, or indie synth. My take? Something along the lines of pure bliss.

Not long ago, they hit the blogosphere with a bang via their single “Nunca.” Today, they are following that success with an equally intriguing track “Mtn Tune,” premiering right here on Indie Shuffle.

Conner Youngblood is unstoppable. His music is a dose of fresh air, no matter what the occasion.

Josh Gilligan has come out of nowhere. The best background info I can give is that he lives in Florida and is studying at Berkley right now.

It’s always exciting to stumble upon a brand new talent, especially one that packs a bit of potential, and Josh certainly meets the criteria. He recently released his debut album Flesh and Blood on Soundcloud for free (download it here), and seems to be embarking on the first steps of his musical career. The album in itself is particularly fun to listen to, as it provides a balanced array of rock and folk tracks — but the track that really stood out to me from the collective is “Let Go.”

“Let Go” seems to be the only song that really sets itself apart from the others, utilizing a more poppy approach to bring the listener in than rather, say, the fingerpicking or distorted guitars that can be heard throughout the rest of the album.

As an ethereal folk sweetheart and long time favorite of mine, Benjamin Francis Leftwich rarely disappoints. Recently, he’s been touring around in a somewhat rabid manner, making girls faint all across the UK, with plans to stage a US takeover very soon.

His latest masterpiece tackles the untouchable, as he throws his own airy twist over The Beatles’ hit “With a Little Help From My Friends.” Covering a Beatles track is no simple task — when doing so you are

1. Setting yourself up for almost insurmountable scrutiny (The Beatles are the greatest band of all time, argue if you must – you will lose)
2. Entering a ‘cover’ realm that is nothing original, thus working on a track that will ultimately provide no benefit
3. Working towards a product that no matter how good, will never be better than the original

If you can swallow that, you’re set to take sail, which is exactly what Ben did. What he produced (in a hotel room while on tour, mind you) is one of the more honest Beatles covers I’ve heard in a while.

80s revival funk molded together with indie rock elements, Foals-style vocals, and a bit of groovy sway. That is basically the best way I can think to describe Coastal Cities’ new track “Relief.”

Formed last year in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, over a mutual love of dance tunes and 80s new wave, Coastal Cities started practicing together in a family garden shed.

“Relief” is the band’s second single, and arrives backed by another new song “The Voyage.” Both tracks were recorded earlier this year in London with producer Hugh Worskett. “Relief” also serves as a follow-up to their recent debut Think Tank EP (December 2011), and it picked up airplay from Huw Stephens, Jen Long and Rob Da Bank at Radio 1, Steve Lamacq and Chris Hawkins at 6 Music, XFM’s John Kennedy, Charlie Ashcroft and Paul Lester at Amazing Radio, among others.

We’re a third through the year, and I have yet to hear a song that comes close to being as psychedelically ambient as their rendition of “I Only Have Eyes For You.” Oneohtrix has managed to take the timeless classic and warp it into a haunting, glitchy dream wave that will warp your mind and send you somewhere wild.

Before embarking on tour with his band Passion Pit (you may have heard of them?), drummer and solo genius Shuttle took the time to throw a funky remix up of a small band called Burning Hotels – which you can peep here.

As for the real track in play here, the single that was remixed and released alongside it today is “Always.” Burning Hotels are a mysterious bunch, having put together one of the more solid debut albums I’ve ever heard, yet never doing much more than peek out from the undergound.

They’ve stayed under the radar for too long, and I can’t allow this to happen anymore – they’re just too good. “Always” is a prime example of their talent – something we’ll be seeing lots more of as the year progresses.

While we wait for new content, we’ll be checking them out on their West Coast tour — hopefully we’ll see you there.

Jordan Craig, Jonathan McFarlane, James Crook and Paul Johnson, all from Glenrothes, formed Tango in the Attic in 2008. Two years later they released their debut album Bank Place Locomotive Society which BBC 1 lauded as their Record of the Month.

Since then the band has ventured around on their own agendas, releasing a bit of music here and there but nothing as substantial as that debut album, at least until recently. They have a forthcoming album, from which two singles and a video have been released. Sellotape represents a progression in the band’s sound, opting for heavier use of reverb and compression that results in noisier recordings than previous works. Whilst it makes use of a much wider variety of sound sources, it still retains a their signature lo-fi quality. Lyrically, many of the songs explore the ups and downs of family relationships from a range of perspectives, a trend reflected in the albums artwork.

Today they are releasing the latest song off of the forthcoming album “Easybones (Inspired Flight Remix).” Contrary to the previous two singles, this is a remix — an uncommon medium for an early single. Yet the remix is clearly tailored in the band’s interests, easily mistaken for just another one of their tracks. It isn’t until about halfway through when you realize that you aren’t listening to the original, as the track takes a dancy ride to the other side.

A relaxing ride from start to finish, Inspired Flight’s remix of “Easybones” does Tango in the Attic justice, and has us eagerly awaiting the upcoming album release (dropping on the 28th).

Jordan Craig, Jonathan McFarlane, James Crook and Paul Johnson, all from Glenrothes, formed Tango in the Attic in 2008. Two years later they released their debut album Bank Place Locomotive Society which BBC 1 lauded as their Record of the Month.

Since then the band has ventured around on their own agendas, releasing a bit of music here and there but nothing as substantial as that debut album, at least until recently. They have a forthcoming album, from which two singles and a video have been released. Sellotape represents a progression in the band’s sound, opting for heavier use of reverb and compression that results in noisier recordings than previous works. Whilst it makes use of a much wider variety of sound sources, it still retains a their signature lo-fi quality. Lyrically, many of the songs explore the ups and downs of family relationships from a range of perspectives, a trend reflected in the albums artwork.

Today they are releasing the latest song off of the forthcoming album “Easybones (Inspired Flight Remix).” Contrary to the previous two singles, this is a remix — an uncommon medium for an early single. Yet the remix is clearly tailored in the band’s interests, easily mistaken for just another one of their tracks. It isn’t until about halfway through when you realize that you aren’t listening to the original, as the track takes a dancy ride to the other side.

A relaxing ride from start to finish, Inspired Flight’s remix of “Easybones” does Tango in the Attic justice, and has us eagerly awaiting the upcoming album release (dropping on the 28th).

Bedroom producers are finding a home on the front page for really the first time in history, thanks in part to the Internet. Much of the best of the bedroomers seems to be electronic/downtempo style music, which is understandable considering it’s a whole lot easier to make music in your bedroom than music that requires a full ensemble.

Turquoise Memories may be my new favorite bedroomer, and his downtempo, chilled out “Blisswaves” (as he likes to call it) provide an atmospheric of ambience that isn’t necessarily original, but is most certainly refreshing.

His latest work “Saturday Sea” is a prime example of how he operates. Give it a listen, support him on his Facebook and drift away for a bit.

If there was music like this on the radio nowadays, I’d actually listen to something other than NPR, but unfortunately there’s not. Thankfully we have the Internet.

TV Girl is a band whose sound is one that even your grandparents would enjoy — their retro vibe brings you back and immediately strikes comparisons to the Beach Boys and other bands that have utilized the mass appeal of surf pop to their advantage. “It Evaporates” is the first viral hit off of their newest EP The Wild, The Innocent, The TV Shuffle Mixtape which was premiered through Stereogum a few days ago.

A perfect accompaniment to the transitionally bipolar weather we’re all experiencing this spring, TV Girl is a an excellent backdrop for almost any occasion.

A delightfully chilled out take on the on the already very much chilled out original, the remix twists the vocals into a soundscape that conjures daydreams and caused me to not get hardly anything done at work today for at least 45 minutes.

Seeing as the weekend is upon us, and the weather is nice — a chilled out track like this is a perfect way to ease into the weekend festivities.

I’ve had a soft spot for pretty girls who can sing for as long as I can remember, and Alex Winston is no exception.

The gorgeous, opera-trained singer/songwriter from Detroit gave Motown a new meaning with her latest LP King Con, and following the release there have been a number of solid remixes redefining various tracks spread throughout the album.

The Sound of Arrows’ remix of Winston’s track “Guts” may be my favorite yet, as it does what a good remix should do: put the song in a different light. Not only does Sound of Arrows provide some umph to the normally ethereal track, but they venture into a land we haven’t seen them transcend before. This remix will put some hop in your step as you head home from the office, and has been on repeat in mine for the past 30 minutes.

RAC (Remix Artist Collective) is best known for their remixes, which often land a spot in the top 10 on HypeM.

This sort of guaranteed success is what has driven RAC to be commissioned for more “official” remixes than any artist collective over the past year, and their tunes typically live up to the hype (sometimes even surpassing my expectations!).

But remixes aren’t the only thing RAC does, and today RAC has released it’s first official single under Mountain Dew’s Green Label Sound.

The track, featuring Penguin Prison, is a jolly little tune that puts a groove in your step without hitting hard. So strap on the sneakers, shake a leg and let loose — your hipster cred will skyrocket.
