"Wishes"

Sounds like: Wild Nothing, Twin Sister, Grizzly Bear

What's so good?

Hurrah! Another little taste of what we can expect from Beach House in their highly anticipated fourth album, Bloom (out May 15 via Sub Pop). “Wishes” is a delicately harmonized track full of glimmering electronics, organ swells and Victoria Legrand’s softly sung sentiments. To me, “Wishes” sounds like a stellar bonus track that could have been included in 2010’s acclaimed Teen Dream. Although not completely different than their previous efforts, I admire the fact that they stick to what they are best at: creating hypnotizing, tranquil tunes that send you on a hazed out journey toward a euphoric daydream.

Self-produced by the band with Chris Coady, the album was recorded in late 2011 at Sonic Ranch Studios in Tornillo, Texas and mixed at Electric Lady in New York City. Alex Scally, part one of the Beach House duo, is quoted saying the album is like “a huge crystal, spinning in a cave with Star Wars figurines.” Well Alex, if that’s true, sign us up!
