Summer of 2011 was epitomized by Beat Connection’s “In The Water” in Seattle. The oh-so-fresh beat paired nicely with some repetitive, easy to sing lyrics and a Bloody Mary-filled Saturday in the PNW. Being a native Seattlite, the nautical single resonated in my very bones.
Their new single, released just in time for a SXSW appearance, is just a taste of an upcoming album set for release this summer. “Think/Feel” shows a maturity in composition and depth for the group, possibly due to the fact that they added two members and snagged a contributing vocalist. Whatever the case, the electronic synth-pop single is a perfect balance of whimsical female whispers, upbeat synths, and some snazzy drum machine for fortification, showing that Beat Connection is going no where but up.
