What's so good?

A genre currently getting a lot of love is the beat scene, which is mainly coming out of Los Angeles, and has been popular there for roughly the last decade.
Originally pioneered by the likes of Flying Lotus, the sound is finding further acclaim through new artists like Shlohmo, and basically consists of very experimental instrumental hip hop, with wonky sounds coming from all over the place.
It’s very hard to exactly define what is “beat scene” but below are five of our favorite tracks to emerge from this weed-infused genre.
