When I saw Steffaloo’s cover songs featured as the Single Serving on Turntable Kitchen, I knew I was going to have to post them here, too. Well, at least one of them – her cover of (my favorite) Bright Eyes song “First Day of My Life.”
I cannot tell you how many times I listened to this Bright Eyes track when it originally came out. It’s hard to replicate Conor Oberst’s shaky vocals, but Steffaloo does the track justice. It’s soft, acoustic, and captures the essence of the original.
This isn’t the first time we’ve blogged about Steffaloo on Indie Shuffle. She was featured in a Song of the Day back in August, on Chrome Spark’s “All There Is.” Also, there are many more covers to be heard on her Soundcloud page (including an endearing cover of Feist’s “Let it Die”), so go check it out.
Thanks again to our friends at Turntable Kitchen for the heads up!
