While it’s possible that my ex-girlfriend ghost wrote this song, it actually comes from Charli XCX. Goldroom does a great job of adding a disco-spin to a song about heartbreak, deception, and ultimately, love.
Josh Legg, the L.A.-based producer known as Goldroom, strips away the original’s sample of Gold Panda’s “You“ and adds some prominent, bouncy bass lines. He speeds up Charli XCX’s mellow vocals, filters them, and compliments the overall vibe of the track with a fun disco groove.
