Hot damn! This video is exhilarating and mind blowing! Let me explain. In appreciation of Earth Day this year, a documentary called One Day On Earth was released worldwide. This documentary was made from over 3,000 hours of footage from across the globe, shot by the team’s filmmakers in every country in the world. Talk about ambitious, huh? When has this ever been done? Probably never… which is what makes Cut Chemist’s video and also the documentary so incredibly revolutionary.
So the filmmakers approached Cut Chemist to dissect footage taken on the same day in every country in the world and produce an actual song from the music of all of the natives playing their native instruments. Daunting much? Well what Cut Chemist came up with is truly spectacular. Not only does the song sound good, but it’s really catchy and will probably reside with you. It definitely did with me. There are so many messages you can take from this video, the main one being that music is and always will be universal… and universally vital to any one culture. It’s a form of expression, of feeling, of living.
I truly hope you take the time to watch all 6 minutes and 46 seconds of this video. And if you do, I hope it moves you in some way. This video and documentary may very well have the power to awaken a new understanding between us all.
