First, let it be known that Dayggs is only 20 years old. The fact that a beat maker is constructing the flavor of instrumentals at such a young age tells a lot about this kid. He was influenced to make music after hearing albums like Pharrell's In My Mind, Dilla's Donuts, Little Brother's The Minstrel Show, and Madvilliany. Each one of these albums was released while Dayggs was still an early teen, however, as proven with so many talented hip-hop acts today, age is merely a number.
Made entirely on Ableton Live, Dayggs has constructed a melting pot of experimental hip hop, pop rap, jazzy rap, and R&B BNG EP. After the first 30 seconds of "Intro," his talent behind the boards can be attested. "Waves" would fit in right at home on In Search Of, it's entirely a shame that The Neptunes don't make music quite like this anymore. "1down" is strictly for fans of Flying Lotus.
Dayggs breaks it down on "Something To Creez To," a track that he claims is everyone's favorite on this collection of beats. "Koolin" proves that he was taking notes while listening to Donuts. "The Mayer" makes perfect sample usage of a Mayer Hawthorne croon. "MTRD" must be heard to comprehend it's hard hitting capability. "Fall In Love" is the best sampling of Barbara Mason's "I'm Ready," -- yes, I have heard them all.
Dayggs has been given the nod from the likes of rapper Danny Brown, has a production feature on the newly released Chip$ (fellow Bruiser) album, co-produced a track with Xskywlkr (he produced more than 1/3 of Brown's XXX), and was recently featured on an Ann Arbor, Michigan radio show. It's obvious he has built up a steady repertoire, so expect much more.
