I’ll be honest: I’ve never owned a Destiny’s Child album. I never really listened to them at all, but suddenly I’m feeling nostalgic for the trio, as if they were an essential part of my childhood. I want to have a slumber party and dance around my room to this jam. Maybe it’s the warm memory of boy band and girl group camaraderie, coordinated outfits and choreography, or maybe it’s the fact that Beyonce is pretty much taking over the world right now.
I also recently posted The Neighbourhood’s acoustic mashup of “Say My Name” and “Cry Me a River.” However, it’s this remix by Esta that highlights how ridiculously good Destiny’s Child was in creating memorable R&B pop with both impressive solos and harmonies.
Credit goes to Esta for not only remixing the past into the present, but also for creating his own timeless music; his creations are beautiful enough that I feel a little guilty for not posting a different track. What can I say? Blame the ladies and their comeback, but then please go check out “Natural Mystic” on SoundCloud for a taste of some sublime ambience.
