Sounds like: Chairlift, Wye Oak

What's so good?

Earlimart is an L.A.-based duo who create luscious and melancholy indie rock. They’ve been doing the music thing for a few years now (they have six previous records and their own record label) and have built quite the resume, what with collaborating alongside members of Grandaddy and touring with Band of Horses. It sounds like they’re continuously growing as a creative collective.

Case in point: their new single, “10 Years.” This song is slow and haunting, but cathartic and stunning all rolled into one. The reverberated guitar lends a nice edge to lead singer Ariana Murray’s silky smooth vocals. There’s a low-lying grunge within this track as the lighter tones float above that. It’s quite a nice contrast and Earlimart has constructed a beautiful and delicate balance between hard and soft.

Their newest album, System Preferences, has just been released digitally. You can cop a physical copy on October 16.
