One of the many silver linings is the /r/music (and similar subreddits like /r/indie_rock, /r/hiphopheads. I've found some great gems through that never ending vortex.
Case in point: Golden Sun. I just discovered these guys and I really don't know anything about them besides the fact that they're from Salt Lake City.
What I do know is that I enjoyed their music from the moment I started listening. "Bonneville" is the first track from their Golden Sun EP. Super heartfelt, super ambitious and super sophisticated. You can feel it in your bones that these dudes are truly talented.
Another thing that sticks out to me is the intricate layering of instruments. There's a whole lot going on here but it's tasteful and calculated, thus making the execution a beautiful, artful piece of music.
Once again, thank you reddit for enlightening me to a band that deserves much more recognition. I recommend getting to know Golden Sun. Their talent is not to be ignored.
