Hey Geronimo released their debut EP Hey Geronimo a couple of months ago, and shame on me for not finding out about it earlier. You may be familiar with the Brisbane band who went viral with their music video of “Why Don’t We Do Something,” which featured the band members recreating some of our favorite iPhone games in real life. It’s safe to say they make some darn good music as well.
“I Got No Money” is a tribute to those nights where we simply can’t afford to go out, but somehow it always manages to work out… or does it? Obviously we can all relate to this song in one way or another. Hey Geronimo has pulled out a fantastic dirty guitar sound, which gives the song a real kick, not to mention the horns, which really level the track out.
The 60s pop influences are clear; each and every song on the EP is catchy as all hell, and are the kind of songs that are going to get stuck in your head whether you like it or not.
Here’s hoping you have some money for the weekend! If not, you always have this song.
