Australian natives and Brooklyn-based duo High Highs (Jack Milas and Oli Chang) first gained recognition last year with the release of their debut EP (which can be streamed on their SoundCloud).
Critics worldwide, including Guardian, NME and Pitchfork, immediately jumped on the bandwagon, generating a huge buzz around their upcoming LP release later this month. Singles “Open Season” and “Flower Bloom” have already been featured on international ads, TV shows and feature films, and they’ve just premiered a third track from the album, the stunning “In A Dream.”
Milas’ falsetto tones are described in their press release as “weapons of mass emotional destruction” and I can’t see anything wrong with this comparison. Combined with their broad landscape of guitar, keys and percussion, they create that deep, luscious resonance which very few can. This is the work of an act at the peak of their powers.
To celebrate the release of their album, the band are hitting the road. First of all, they’ll be touring their native Australia as part of the Laneway Festival (as well as their own sideshows), before heading back to the states to appear at SXSW in March.
