I am constantly surfing the Internet for works of collective sounds that catapult the human senses into a metaphysical state of being. Sounds that are capable of causing confusion to the individual’s outside world while holding the body hostage in its dense sonic bubble of instruments and electronics.
Hokes, a 21-year-old cinematographer from Roxbury, New Jersey, imparts the out-of-body experience I was craving with his fresh EP, H e a d G a m e s. The five-track compendium of electronic/lo-fi sounds runs with depth and simplicity. Hokes is signed to a record label that moonlights as a creative collective and music blog called The Brio Life.
Hoke’s experiential music is commensurate to his perspective of reality and the human condition:
“I create a falsehood that mirrors in reality. There is no hoax in the game. There is no hoax in the hustle. There is no hoax in human.”
Take a seat and enjoy.
