Holy Holy is a project that has been in the works for a long, long time. Melbourne's Oscar Dawson and Brisbane's Timothy Carroll met while abroad years ago, and started putting ideas together for what has turned out to be Holy Holy while living in Europe (Berlin and Stockholm, respectively). After returning to Australia, they've recorded the band's first album, with "Impossible Like You" the first single from what is shaping up to be one of the more anticipated records this year.
The track is superbly crafted, with the duo joined by a number of talented musicians to create the lush, warm sound. Recorded by well-known local producer Matt Redlich, it's a powerful track which builds steadily throughout. Everything about it meshes perfectly, from Carroll's dynamic vocals to the shredding guitar riffs featured over the top of an immense soundscape. It's one of those songs which will really suck you in, powerless to break concentration.
"Impossible Like You" is one of the most impressive debut releases I've ever heard, and I (among many others it seems!) am expecting huge things from them.
