And I Was A Boy From School (Erol Alkan's Extended Rework)

Sounds like: Hot Chip, Boys Noize, Todd Tejere
Although this rework was released when I was graduating college, it has not lost its edge or currency. Erol Alkan is a producer/DJ out of London, and has remixed a plethora of artists like Hot Chip, Bloc Party, Daft Punk, and Boys Noize, among others. Alkan recently loaded this monstrously long rework of one of my favorite Hot Chip tunes from 2006 on SoundCloud. With a consistent, metronomed BPM, Alkan takes the original track, "And I Was A Boy From School," down a notch for a more chill, introspective take. Where Hot Chip's track is fast and in your face, this rework sits back letting the melody linger about. Capturing the vocals in very focused moments, his selection is a perfect accompaniment to the re-imagined, deconstructed beat. With Hot Chip fresh off another album release, it's not a huge surprise that Alkan unearthed this track from his library. Fingers crossed this is foreshadowing more Hot Chip remixes in our near future.
