What's so good? By Aaron Blum | Jun 06, 2013 | Total plays: 26,838
This little downtempo gem came from way back in time (with respect to blog time, anyways) from early 2012. Philip Fuchs' remix of In Golden Tears' "Under The Balance" pretty much just fell in my lap via a random SoundCloud user, so cheers to that.
In Golden Tears is an alternative rock band out of Hamburg, Germany that I ended up checking out after hearing the remix, and they are actually pretty good. It's been a few years since they've released anything, but it looks like they are gearing up for a new album soon.
Philip Fuchs' remix of "Under The Balance," turns the alt-rock song down into a glitchy downtempo groove. The addition of different key arrangements and ambient background quirks, while cutting the main guts of the guitars and drums out, makes for a perfect chillout song. Side note: the echoing vocals almost remind me of Patrick Grossi from Active Child -- maybe that's why I dig this remix so much?
