This is the second remix of Jamie xx’s “Far Nearer” I’ve posted. RTS takes the track in completely opposite directions. The first one I posted, in case you’re wondering, was this one by Ollie Macfarlane.
This track is the opposite of that. Oxford producer RTS, whose influences read like a who’s-who of all the relevant producers in UK bass music today, leans towards the likes of Burial or Koreless in this remix — slowing the track down, emphasising the delicate, pretty piano section.
A healthy dollop of bass is added in to the background and the original is converted from a fairly upbeat future garage track into a shadowier, ethereal version of its original self.
