After sharing producer Kilter’s track “Treat You Right” last month, we’re back with a second helping. Recently featured amongst LYFSTYL’s top 10 Australian beatmakers (alongside the likes of Flume, Ta-ku and Thrupence), his music has been steadily gaining critical appreciation locally.
The young Sydneysider’s new track, “One For Me,” is a definite change from his usual music. He says, “I had quite a different approach to this one. I’ve been making a bit of electronic/dance music on the side for a while now so when I started to flip the sample it kind of went in this disco direction rather than the hip hop I usually would make.” The drum samples (“I’ve developed an unhealthy steel drum obsession”) give this a tropical vibe, and it’s sharper than the rest of his (smoother) back catalogue.
Despite the change in direction, the result is still the same – a great track. More to come from this exciting project in the coming months.
