David Levesque is the man behind the intriguing music project that is Levek. David, a school bus driver in Florida, started Levek as a pastime when he wasn’t charting school kids around. Let’s be thankful that he’s continued down this musical path. After his first few recordings back in 2009, he essentially became an overnight viral internet sensation, and understandably so.
Levek has been preparing to release their first full-length LP, Look A Little Closer on September 25, and today we are sharing Levek’s first single from the album, “Black Mold Grow.” This track is incredibly plush and colorful, with woodwinds, keys, funky bass, a sleek beat and gorgeously layered harmonies. There’s no skipping over this track. The variety within “Black Mold Grow” gives off a perfect combination of smooth 70s disco, classic orchestral pop and a perfect touch of funk.
Considering the attractiveness of this song, I’m really eager to hear the whole album. While David Levesque’s approach to making music is the path less traveled, it’s an approach that leaves the listener in wonderment and awe. Let’s hope we can hear a few more tracks before September!
