What's so good?

Sydney-based Lily So & the Bellows are a band that still dreams of a bygone era. A self-confessed bookworm, frontwoman Lily So and her band (which recently increased to six!) create music designed to tell a tale. Having performed locally for the last few years, they're just now launching their debut single... and what a great first offering it is.

"Smokin' Gun" is beautifully simple. Highlighting So's sultry vocals, the band creates a wall of slide guitar, steady bass and flowing percussion around her, while the echoing organ chords complete the vintage feel to this track. It's a package of blues, folk and soul music, perfect for transporting the listener to wherever they'd prefer to be.

This is a promising start from a clearly talented group, and no doubt there'll be more sultriness to follow in the near future.
