What do we have here? A chilled-out version of an already wonderfully infectious Little Dragon song? Why yes, I’ll take it! I’m always interested to hear what other musicians will do to any Little Dragon song because the song is usually already so impressive. It’s also refreshing to hear such a unique twist on an already innovative band.
This version of “Crystal Film” slows down to almost a high-as-a-kite snail’s pace. And I love it. It took me awhile to figure out who actually remixed this song but I later discovered that it was an elusive man from the UK who goes by the moniker of Close with only 52 (now 53) Facebook likes. He wants it to remain that way, according to his Facebook:
“Close is the brainchild of an artist who initially wishes to remain anonymous. His upcoming debut album ‘Getting Closer’ is the result of a series of fruitful collaborations and musical alliances with some of the most exciting producers, musicians and vocalists out there.”
Tease me, why don’t you! This person, from the sound of it, is very experienced and has great taste. He took an upbeat powerhouse of a song and turned it into a sleek, groovy, baby-making remix that is almost impossible to not gyrate to. One thing that is obvious is that this bass heavy, broken beat remix is probably just a snippet of what this guy has up his sleeves. Stay tuned!
