On March 2nd, Lykke Li will release her second album Wounded Rhymes on LL Recordings, recorded over the course of six months spend in Echo Park, Los Angeles — a far distance from the Swede’s homeland.
According to Li, time spend in L.A. resulted in her music taking a turn for something slightly haunting. More precisely, the songs are “hypnotic, psychotic, and more primal.” Had my only taste of the new album been the earlier single “Get Some” I might have had a harder time believing this. “Love Out of Lust,” however, fully embodies this darker sound, leaving me curious to listen to her new album as whole.
