What's so good?

Haven't heard of Maceo Plex yet? Well, you have now. The American born producer/DJ has been around for years under other monikers, the most recognizable being Maetrik.

Recently he was un-cocooned as Maceo Plex, an interesting move, one that was pretty damn smart. Maybe it was his relocation to Spain that sparked the change, but whatever the cause may be his beats are benefitting from the rebranding.

"Can't Leave You Alone" starts off with a hungry, downtempo beat consistent in its fervor throughout the entirety of the track. Perhaps my favorite part is the deliciously fat rolling bass line introduced after a mangled whisper of "I just want to express myself."

Everything about this production makes me want to abandon my unborn children and flee to Ibiza immediately. Fortunately for my liver, (and my hypothetical white-picket future), my bank account severely disagrees with this plan.

Also check out #28 on Resident Advisor's top 50 tracks of 2011. Spoiler alert: it's "Can't Leave You Alone."
