We first picked up Mesita way back in early 2010 (decades ago, right?). At the time, I was taken back by his experimentation and original approach. I'm glad to see that more than two years later (okay, it wasn't decades), he's still taking the same approach.
"XYXY" is the first single to be released off a new album titled Future Proof, set for release some time early next year. According to the artist, the song is "about the delusions that come from growing up closeted, and all the mental struggles that come along with it."
I'm not really that big on listening to lyrics, so this track ends up being entirely about the instrumentation and melody. On both those counts, James thoroughly captures my attention.
