I never thought I’d be praising Mexicans With Guns, nor did I think if there was such a musical artist, the song I’d be sharing would be called “Hummingbird.” Of course life is full of surprises, but “surprising” is one of the lesser adjectives I could use to describe this track.
“Hummingbird” creates a traveling visual through its electronic experimentation and buzzing bass. I’m not entirely comfortable with the journey I’m experiencing, but it’s raw and intuitive while maintaining an unfamiliar magic.
Ernest Gonzales is the producer behind this novel daydream. According to his Facebook, his music leads us to a place “where Mexico, London and the Dirty South all [fuse] into one mysterious and club friendly mindset.” Along with contributing his own sounds, he remixes the likes of Animal Collective and The Postal Service.
