Let me tell you about my
boat two rules.
Rule #1: the 6 seconds rule. Basically, all you need is 6 seconds to convince yourself whether or not you’ll like something. Alright, so it’s not perfect. Usually you’ve barely had enough time to synthesize what it is you’ve been introduced to. But, somehow, it works. Don’t ask (don’t tell). Maybe it’s intuition. Whatever, it’s a rule.
Rule #2: the Donald Glover rule. If Donald Glover likes it, you like it. It’s buzz. This rule is much less complex than the first.
Lucky for us, this song follows both rules – do I even need to write a review?
Brenton Duvall, the DJ behind Blow The Skrilla and Tryouts, just put out this amazing remix of Neon Hitch’s Silly Girl and I’ve been listening to it nonstop for a week. You won’t even realize it’s the same song – away goes the simplistic, whiny repetition and added are some seriously fresh beats. And don’t write off how delicious Wiz Khalifa’s “No Sleep” sounds in here.. it’s just purrfect.
So go ahead and compare the two songs (the original sounds like background music after you listen to the BD remix – straight sad) and enjoy the genius that is by liking Brenton on Facebook and following his band’s exploits at their website, Potomac Boys Club.
