New Order - Ceremony (Chromatics Cover)

Dec 04, 2012

Sounds like: Joy Division, The Cure
Why do we like this?
In 1981, Joy Division made its debut as New Order with "Ceremony." Fast forward to 2012, past numerous covers, and the Portland based instrumental electronic outfit Chromatics produce a fitting sonic memorial by graciously slowing the pace.

The track vibrates and shuffles in quickly joined by the always magical, striking melody. It's less rock, more textured electronic surrounding soothing, youthful vocals. Similarly, the Chromatics' Kill for Love album released March 2012, is described as a "a warm collision of past, present, and future."

The "Ceremony" cover is part of an Autumn mix, Black and White, just released by the group's multi-instrumentalist and producer Johnny Jewel. Download the mix on Jewel's SoundCloud and catch updates from the group on their Facebook page.
