One band that’s popular among pretty much every contributor at Indie Shuffle – regardless of their other tastes – are The Strokes. Their debut album Is This It was one of the best of the last decade, and “Last Nite” was a big part of that.
Released as the second single, “Last Nite” is indie rock at its best – anthemic, singalong, and to be honest, somewhat meaningless.
In my opinion, the value of the best indie rock is not to convey deep messages — there are plenty of genres already doing that — but to have a good time. Festivals, gigs and parties worldwide have been soundtracked by “Last Nite,” and that’s why it’s this weeks Old School Wednesday.
