Sounds like: James Blake, Active Child, Washed Out, Jon Hopkins
After dropping Dreams - one of the best Australian releases of 2011 - nobody would blame Oliver Tank for taking some time off. He didn't. Aside from touring the country on his own EP tour, he has recently supported a stellar cast of performers including Active Child, Youth Lagoon, and Bonobo. He's also found time to visit the studio to work on some new tracks, highlighted by the breathtaking "Help You Breathe" (pun intended). Seemingly simple, yet perfectly finished like most of Tank's music, his gentle vocals are prominent on this track. After a drifting strings intro the beat kicks in, methodical and bass-heavy. It almost sounds like a stalled Neptunes track, fitting given his hip-hop influences. With plans for two more releases in 2012 (a hip-hop cover release and a second EP) and a slot at the Great Escape Festival in the UK, Oliver Tank is clearly not one to rest on his laurels. Great news for music lovers around the world.
