Take Us Alive

Sounds like: Patrick Watson, Radiohead, Dry the River
Just in time for fall, here's a brand new single from Oklahoma folk rockers Other Lives. "Take Us Alive" drops from Other Lives' new EP, Mind the Gap, due out October 23. According to Pitchfork, a few unreleased cuts ("Dead Can" and "Dust Bowl") also find a spot on the new EP. The single has a sweeping orchestral sound, with a crescendo of strings and percussion. Pairing that with the slow battle cry of "They'll never take us alive," I can easily imagine a group of Victorian-era soldiers marching deep into a foggy, desolate field as this song plays in the background. I've been craving some new Other Lives music after having Tamer Animals on repeat all of last year. Coming off of a one-time tour with Radiohead (I mean, really, can you get a better headliner than that?), they recorded the EP this past summer. Free download courtesy of Pitchfork!
