"Magic"

Sounds like: Bag Raiders, Miami Horror, Cut Copy, Holy Ghost!

What's so good?

I may have just set a record for listening to one song on repeat. I lost count around 14. The song in question is PANAMA’s tropically infused “Magic.” PANAMAis lead by Jarrah McCleary, formerly of the recently disbanded band The Dirty Secrets. Following a short stay in L.A., McCleary (as well as old band mate Cam Edwards and a new team) has taken a new direction with “Magic” the new band’s first offering to the world.

Produced and mixed in L.A. by Eric Broucek (who has worked with the likes of Cut Copy, LCD Soundsystem and Holy Ghost!), this track oozes quality. Punchy synth and percussion combined with smooth bass lines gives it the summery vibe akin to a number of current Australian bands. That said, it also has a real 80s hint to it, which is rather endearing.

PANAMA have an album scheduled for release this year, so look for more ridiculously catchy indie pop to follow. And just in case you were wondering, yes, I’m still listening.
