What's so good?
By Hannah Simon | Jul 12, 2013

PAPA's working hard lately. With the recent release of 7" "If You're My Girl, Then I'm Your Man"/"Put Me To Work" (as well as a video for the latter), and now this new track, "Young Rut," they're breathing new life into their sound. The talented Los Angeles-based musicians, comprised of Daniel Presant and former Girls drummer Darren Weiss, continue to leave us wanting more in anticipation of their hopefully soon-to-be-released full-length (I hear rumors that it's coming out this fall on Loma Vista Recordings!).

While the two channeled a lighter indie pop sound in their earlier work like "Let's Make You Pregnant," perhaps "Young Rut" is a sign of the lo-fi anthems we should come to expect from their new album. On this single, there are hints of The Killers and even some 80s bands that I can't quite put my finger on. And by the time they get to their "ooooh-ooooh" chorus, I'm hooked. And you will be, too.
