With his upcoming album entitled Bound For Glory due out in April, Damien Derose has released the first single to come off the album. Fans of Elliot Smith will be delighted to hear Derose’s approach on the singer/songwriter genre, as there is something very haunting and familiar about his voice.
Regardless of comparisons, Peasant writes great music and “The Flask” is no exception. With a great guitar riff that lulls you in, followed up by Derose lightly woo hooing, and asking “Why are you so cold?” you feel like you have to hear what he is going to say next.
With just the right mix of acoustic and electric guitar with a nice piano breakdown, “The Flask” proves that Peasant still has it after three releases, and despite his young age, is a folk maestro.
Hopefully this track holds us over until April.
