Robin Pecknold & Ed Droste

I'm Losing Myself

As anticipation for new Fleet Foxes album Helplessness Blues grows, Robin Pecknold dropped a... well, why don't I let Robin describe it himself (via twitter):"So, I recorded three acoustic songs a couple weeks ago in L.A. with my friend Noah. One is a duet with my friend Ed Droste from the amazing band Grizzly Bear, one is just a new solo jam, and one is a cover.""These aren't Fleet Foxes songs, but I didn't know where else to disseminate it. Pretty mellow jams. Here's a link to download them.""Hope you enjoy!"Ah, I love the information age..."I'm Losing Myself," the track featuring finger picking and the distant tone of Droste and Pecknold's overlapped vocals envoked Simon & Garfunkel; If Fleet Foxes music is that of blooming spring suns, then the solo jam, "Derwentwater Stones," is the music of a winter moon. The cover "Where Is My Winter Rose" was originally recorded by Chris Thompson in 1972; These 3 songs deliver exactly what Pecknold promised: Pretty. Mellow. Jams.As for the Seattle-based Foxes', their newest, Helplessness Blues, is out May 2 (unless it leaks sooner, as Pecknold hopes). Hear the title track along with an alternate version of "Mykonos."
