I first discovered Selebrities two years ago when I was compiling a Halloween playlist (obviously), and their vintage rendition of "Monster Mash" landed in my inbox and had me laughing instantly. Since then, they've surfaced on a Kitsuné Maison compilation, put out an EP, and released their first full album, Delusions. In other words, they've been gaining some much deserved traction."Temporary Touch" is the first track off of their sophomore release Lovely Things, out June 25 through Cascine. The song maintains their hybridized love of vigorous 80s synth with a much chiller, shoegazey filter. However, this track delivers a much tighter, more polished take on what risks becoming a formulaic sound. We've seen such a resurgence of this type of "vintage pop," it's likely many artists will be forgotten as the sound continues to saturate. What they really excel at, however, is meditating between all these competing influences, each which risks overtaking the song and allowing the listener to type it.So, take this month to delve into their discography, and get ready for Lovely Things' release next month to shift your take on their signature sound!
