Crossover from hip-hop to bass music has been popular recently, and the “trap” sound (pioneered by Hudson Mohawke) has been showing up everywhere.
One man following those ideas – and adding a few of his own – is Londoner Sonny Rooney, or Solarris, as he is known.
Solarris’ sound is grime-tinged, with brittle drums and brutal synths. Hard and uncompromising, you can expect to hear tracks like “Bush Horns” on a dancefloor near you.
