What's so good?

Sonnymoon dropped an impressive eponymous full length a few weeks ago, combining jazz aesthetics with electronic and ambient elements to create a sound that is focused yet soft. I’ve shared a few of the cuts from their Plug Research debut on Indie Shuffle before, but I’ve saved my favorite till now.

“Nothing Thought” is a brilliantly simple and intimate approach to the unavoidable truth of our impermanence on this planet. The ethereal and cosmic permeates pretty much all of the LP, but I believe this track best encompasses the spiritual center of the project.

“I was born with nothing and nothing I’ll go, souls with particles disperse and flow,” is the pseudo-chorus. Anna Wise’s bedroom voice gives the message an earnestness that would be difficult to fabricate, and the percussive placements that Dane puts behind her remind me of Dakim in a dimension where he is somewhat concerned with accessibility.

Simply put, the album is great, I think this song is fantastic, and you should invest in this music.
