Splendour is an annual Australian music festival held in July at Woodford, Queensland (previously held at Belongil Fields, outside Byron Bay). The festival began in 2001 as a one-day event, but now spans a full three days. With a current capacity of 30K, Splendour is generally considered to be Australia’s largest winter (yes, it’s winter here) music festival, and attracts a large number of visitors from interstate and overseas.
The diverse lineup this year includes a number of huge international acts, including Kanye West, Coldplay, and the Hives. However, today I’m going to run you through my Top Ten International picks (in no particular order) ready to grace the Splendour stage in a matter of weeks.
Wow, has this guy got some talent or what? I am intrigued to see how his sound will translate on a festival stage.

It’s incredible to think that Modest Mouse have been around for almost 20 years and are still going strong.

An Indie Shuffle favorite, this will be Friendly Fires’ second Splendour in the Grass appearance. The lads from England were one of the standouts at their first showing back in 2009.

At the 2010 festival, Two Door Cinema Club blew the crowd away with their party-friendly tunes; I’m predicting Foster the People will be this year’s equivalent.

I encounter a problem every time Warpaint tours. They always seem to be playing at the same time as another big act, and this year is no different. The talented all-girl band has picked the short straw and are slotted in to play at the same time as James Blake, arghhh!

I’m actually seeing Wild Beasts in Sydney the night before I drive approximately twelve hours up to the festival. Yep, I like me some Wild Beasts.
