Australian Ambience
Sunday Night Chill

What's so good?

By | January 27th, 2013

Back in September, I brought you the first Sunday Night Chill playlist dedicated to Australian artists. It was so much fun that I’ve been saving up all the best ambient tracks I’ve come across since then. All for this moment.

With electronic music quickly becoming a staple in the Australian diet, there are a number of local talents who could easily hold their own on the world stage. These are just a few of them.

"The Townhouses - Our Trees Will Grow"
Possibly my favorite local ambient artist, The Townhouses' Diaspora album was one of my top ten for all of 2012. A masterpiece, really. (SoundCloud)

"Oisima - Trying to Remember (Ft. Adam Page)"
Adelaide's Oisima is an absolute genius. His music has been on high rotation for me since he released his second EP late last year. This is one of his older ones though... enjoy the sax. (SoundCloud)

Download
"Nakagin - Marcus' Sink"
A finalist in last year's FBi Northern Lights Competition, Nakagin released a short-but-sweet three track EP late last year which features this stunning composition. (SoundCloud)

Download
"Wintercoats - Working on a Dream"
Melbourne's Wintercoats has just wrapped up a tour supporting Beach House, which saw the violin extraordinaire draw rave reviews. (SoundCloud)

Download
"Embassy - Night Bus from Washington"
A relatively new player is Sydney artist Embassy, who also had one of his more upbeat tracks featured in the Friday Five a few weeks back. (SoundCloud)
