What's so good?

As an Australian blogger, I get a bit funny when writers from other countries review an Australian track before I get a chance. Perth-based producer Ta-ku is one of those acts who a couple of my colleagues always manage to beat me to (I'm looking at you David and Anu). One of the country's most sought-after beatmakers, he recently caused a flurry of attention after releasing his entire (and prolific) back catalogue for free download.

The track I bring you today is "BrokeAs," a mash-up of TLC's "No Scrubs." The Redbull Music alumni has put his recognizable fingerprints all over this one, with smooth synths being broken up with staggered lyrics and his familiar frenetic drum-kit.

After being selected amongst fellow break-out producers Chet Faker and Flume in the Triple J Next Crop 2012, this year is bound to be a huge year for this talented artist. Check out his well-stocked SoundCloud here.
