I'm a little disappointed that I didn't get a chance to check out Los Angeles-based producer Take during his set on the Oasis Dome at Coachella this year. The remixes he did for Nosaj Thing and Shigeto were both clean and classy in their sound, so I know I would have enjoyed a mid-afternoon beat session.Take follows up his 2010 release Only Mountain with this fine remix album, featuring some of the best up-and-coming beat makers such as Tokimonsta, Alex B, and FaltyDL. It's a smooth listen the whole way through, and each artist manages to uniquely blend abstract soundscapes with head-bobbing rhythm.You can grab Tokimonsta's interpretation of "Horizontal Figuration," as well as Take's own remix of "Begin End Begin" in a free download over on Take's website. Make sure you check out the rest of the album too -- Mux Mool's remix is definitely the stand-out track for me on this release.
