One of my favorite albums of the last few years was The Besnard Lakes’ The Besnard Lakes are the Roaring Night. It’s a huge album, with a lot of patience and build-ups that result in some grandiose peaks. The band just crafts songs so beautifully. It’s no surprise that a lot of people are looking forward to their next album, which we just found out will be coming out this year (on April 2, 2013!). It’s entitled Until In Excess, Imperceptible UFO. A title only fitting of the Besnard Lakes.
This first single, “People of the Sticks,” gives me great hope that it’s going to be another barn-burner of a record. Their sound hasn’t changed all that much, with the cinematic guitars still sound scorching while singer Olga Goreas’ lovely whisper lulls the listener.
