What's so good?

Tom Dyer has been weaving throughout the music industry for decades, but it wasn’t until this millennium that he’s really picked up the pace on releasing his own work… and that includes releasing five albums since 2009, totaling eight albums altogether.

His newest album release goes by the name of I Ain’t Blue Anymore and it’s an avant garde, bluesy rock and roll masterpiece. And to top it off, Tom Dyer plays all of the instruments on this record and he recorded, mixed and mastered the entire thing. Damn, right? And let’s not forget about his cover of Captain Beefheart’s “Smithsonian Institute Blues (Or The Big Dig).” That one is probably my favorite, with its twangy, off-kilter tones and down-home bass and drum tempo. Top it off with rustic, raw vocals and you’ve got a classic song remade to please our retro and modern tastes all in one.

Tom Dyer is the definition of DIY. Along with being the main man behind this record, he also owns Green Monkey Records, where he is the recording and mastering engineer and art and video director. Oh, and his day job? He’s the president of Argosy University in Seattle. No big deal. Now that’s what I call a renaissance man!
