Dark, deep and definitely more delicious than the original, Social Pipe has put a defining spin on Troumaca’s, “Fire.”
On his own productions, the 22 Parisian, Social Pipe, is way less dark and dub and more chilly and soulful, punctuated by moments of pleasantry. Nice stuff to chill out with.
The nature of the original “Fire” is its own strange, experimental beast (exhibited here) and I’m really not sure how I feel about it — or them — Troumaca, a 5-piece dub outfit from Birmingham. However, I appreciate that Social Pipe has tuned me on to both him and them via “Fire.” Whether it’s my taste or not, these boys are cookin’, and I’m withstanding the heat — that ought to say something.
