With the last installment of the Twilight series fast approaching its November 16 release date, a Hollywood cheating scandal, and the announcement that Passion Pit would be featured on the Breaking Dawn Part 2 soundtrack, the hype is starting to build back up again.
There have been few film franchises that I can think of that have been as polarizing as Twilight. Do you love it or hate it? Team Edward or Team Jacob? Were the books or the films better? Despite all of these questions, one thing is certain: the movies included some great indie music.
The Twilight soundtrack has included some of the indie greats from the past few years, including Band of Horses, Iron & Wine, Florence + the Machine, The Black Keys, and Thom Yorke. We were also privy to an amazing collaboration between Bon Iver and St. Vincent, as well as being introduced to some newer artists like The Joy Formidable and Cider Sky.
So whether you’re a “Twi-Hard,” or simply dating one, the soundtracks have really provided a nice collection of indie tunes and some agreeable driving music in the car for many couples. Thank you, Twilight soundtrack(s).
